It’s my first Mother’s Day as a mum this year…
Even though I did get a card ‘from the bump’ last year, I’m feeling the excitement of being able to spend Mother’s Day this year as a mum for the first time. We’ve always treated it as a little holiday, not making a huge deal out of it, but it still feels special to me. It’s a great time to just pause and say, actually, being a mum feels lovely. Even in the times when Joaquin is screaming or grumpy or leaking on me from somewhere.
In the past I’ve put together lists of ideas for Mother’s Day, and this year leaving it a little bit late – as I am with most things at the moment – I’ve looked to Amazon this year for my inspiration list. Thank goodness for speedy delivery. I’ve grouped together my favourite gifts ideas for whatever type of mum you have. The classics are the gifts you go-to before any inspiration. But they shouldn’t be overlooked – who doesn’t love the gift of chocolate and flowers. These are great for those mums who might already have everything, or might say not to bother too much.

I feel like I’ve developed a first-hand understanding of the things new mums really value. When I first brought Joaquin home, all I wanted was a small opportunity to pamper myself, like lighting candles or face cream, and a nice, hot cup of coffee. But I also noticed the joy I got from things like being able to easily grab a drink of water, watching the birds in our garden, and bunches of flowers brightening up the place.
