A while ago I asked for some advice on getting a new camera on my Instagram, and was struggling between two different cameras – the Sony A5000 and the Sony A6000. I needed a new camera after my old Lumix G1 that I’d been using for six years stuck itself on timer mode, which made taking photographs such hard work. I’d focus the photo, press the shutter, and by the time it had taken the photo I would’ve moved somehow and it would have unfocused itself. So, with my dad, I took a trip to Curry’s last week, and made my decision.
I went for the Sony A6000. In the end, after a lot of research online, watching YouTube reviews and looking at sample photographs for both cameras, it felt like the best way to go out of the two. I really wanted a viewfinder, which swayed me, in the the Sony A5000 doesn’t have one. I was planning originally on buying the camera, and then looking for a viewfinder add on at a later date, but the price of the camera and the separate viewfinder pretty much matched the price of the A6000 which already comes with one.
Last week was a bit of a write off for me, for various reasons, so I haven’t really experimented with my new camera yet. But I’m really excited to try some flatlays and close up photos, because it seems to have a really good depth of field on it.
