I’ve lost my mood ring, and I’m not sure how I feel about it – what a classic. Remember mood rings, you used to always be able to buy them in shops by the seaside. I’d always come home from holidays with tons of them. Well, be ready to get excited, because they’re back! I found this Monki gem (not aff*) from ASOS, and I’m back in love with it like mood rings were never gone.
How Do Mood Rings Work?
Mood rings are thermotropic liquid crystals – probably the most scientific thing you’ll hear on this blog – or glass over a sheet of liquid crystals, which are really sensitive to temperature. This makes the ring appear different colours, and is why the link with your mood is made.
Do They Work?
It depends on how you feel about it really (no double meaning intended). They’re reactive to your temperature rather than your mood, but you could argue that your temperature can be loosely related back to your mood, sort of.
