There’s two types of Halloween night people – those who put on the scariest movie they can find, and those of us who can’t think of anything worse than being terrified. I’m not good with horror movies – when I went to the cinema to see Paranormal Activity 3 I had to sleep with my lamp on for two weeks. It’s really not good.
But, on the other hand, I absolutely love Halloween! So where’s the meet with that?
Luckily, there’s movie-makers out there that see it from our point of view, and non-scary Halloween movies are a thing. So, for Halloween night this year here are just a few of the movies that I’ll be working through.
Hocus Pocus – arguably a recent classic, three witches resurrect in a search for revenge.
Ghostbusters I & II – possibly one of my favourites on the list, the Ghostbusters save the city of New York twice against the paranormal.
The Addams Family & Addams Family Values – Halloween’s favourite family and their adventures.
Casper – everyone knows the friendliest ghost.
Young Frankenstein – a black and white take on the classic Frankenstein story.
Harry Potter – add any of the titles here, they all have a spooky feel about them. Any film with giant spiders is Halloween-vibes to me.
The Nightmare Before Christmas – is this a Christmas film or a Halloween movie?
Edward Scissorhands – young Johnny Depp and Tim Burton.
Corpse Bride – another Tim Burton on the list, but he is the king of Halloween.
Scooby-Doo The Movie – and finish off with the classic monster chasers.
