April Favourites

April Favourites

Another month, another favourites post. It always feels a little like it’s easy to get swamped by isolation and quarantine themed posts, so the monthly favourites is an easy out for any blogger to force themselves to take a break from it. Although, it is getting harder and harder to find things other than films that are making it onto the favourites list for the month.

Classic Star Trek

I’m talking Spock, Captain Kirk, Sulu, all the originals. I watched the original Star Trek episodes when I felt like it years ago, but recently went back to rewatching them on Netflix, and they’re such a mood booster. The action is extra, the alien costumes are hilarious, and the sets leave something to the imagination – it’s super cheesy, but it’s perfect for an evening that needs something easy to watch. If you want to see something really strange watch the first episode – the characters different and the outfits are ever so slightly off from what they become later, so it’s quite jarring for a super fan.

Bedroom Plants

I have an indefensible amount of spider plants in my room at the best of times – anyone with spider plants knows the struggle, you start with one, they multiply into three, and before you know it you have fifteen plants all ready to make extra plants. But right now I’m loving having a bit of greenery about. Although, I am soon going to get some extra plants for the babies they’re all growing.

Polaroids

Admittedly, fake Polaroids – I don’t actually own a Polaroid camera, but I’ve been ordering them from online photo printing services. There’s something about a polaroid photo that’s special, like you can kid yourself that it actually came out while you were there. I’ve been printing them off of my travels and holidays, and putting them all round my room.

Records

Having more time at home I’ve been listening to my records more, rather than just listening to my Spotify. Sorry to be so cliche, but records are just so much more authentic sounding, with their little crackle, and setting them up is kind of fun too. Plus, I’m a song skipper, so miss hidden gems if I’m listening on my phone, but with the records you have to listen to every song, so I’ve actually found some songs I love through my records (in particular, Headspace by the Wombats).

Positive Postcard

I mentioned the Positive Postcard club that’s been created by Ella Masters, the illustrator, in my self-care post, which I thought was a fab idea, but I’ve ordered a few to put in frames around my room. My particular favourite is the one of the lady standing in the leaves, which I’ve put in a rose gold frame above all my plants. It’s beautiful.

Cosy Evenings

Having no pressures of early mornings, or work worries, or anything like that, it’s made it much easier to have cosy nights in. I’ve been lighting candles, putting on a movie, and snuggling with Bob under our fluffy throw. Oh, and lot’s of dark chocolate of course.

xx
