Ten Things You Might Need To Hear Right Now

A late post today, but I went to bed feeling exhausted last night – even after taking a little pre-dinner nap – and woke up this morning with a headache, so just felt like I needed to take a morning out. But I’ve taken a walk in the sunshine, had a healthy lunch, and spent time just watching (forgive me in advance) the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

With that said, I had set aside a quite simple post for a day like today that I can just sit and write, and spent this afternoon working on this. It’s 10 Things You Might Need to Hear Right Now, and I hope it totally helps if you need it right now!

1. It’s okay if all you achieved today was binge watching…

…or reading, or a face mask. To be honest some days I’m amazed I remembered to brush my teeth, so if you don’t feel like you got anything productive done today that’s okay, just add it to tomorrow’s to do list.

2. You’re doing a great job

Even just doing what we’re all being told to do is doing a great job. Staying in your home as much as possible, or following the advice when you do go out is grinding sometimes, but if you’re doing it you’re doing a great job. And if you’re still working then you’re on another level of doing a great job right now.

3. If you’ve been wearing the same lounge wear for three days, that’s okay

No one’s going to see it – and there probably won’t be many other days when you get to do it, so let’s all make the most of it!

4. It’s okay if you’re looking on the bright side

Sometimes you need to be optimistic, especially in dark times. If you’re focusing on the good, rather than the bad, that’s okay, sometimes positivity goes a long way.

5. It’s also okay if you’re not watching the news daily

I’ll admit, I stopped watching the daily updates a while ago. I was starting to feel overwhelmed with all the information, and found that I would get the information from my family or friends who were watching it. If you don’t want to watch the news everyday that’s okay.

6. But it’s also okay if you have a down day

We’re bound to, at some point, feel like it all gets a bit much and need to have a real down day. Do you on these days, put on your favourite film (or spend all day watching Real Housewives), and eat too much chocolate. Everyone’s going to have a down day at least once, so maybe today is just yours.

7. It’s normal to want to have an alone day

It’s been drilled into us that it is so important to keep talking to your friends and family, and it is, but if you hit a day where you’re not in the mood to talk, than that’s fine. Just take a day to yourself, and if anyone gets in touch just let them know – or make up an excuse, that’s okay occasionally too.

8. If you’ve treated yourself more than normal, that’s normal

I don’t know about you, but I’m finding way more evenings I’m reaching for the treats, or wanting a pamper evening. You know what, spending so much time being indoors I’m feeling the need for pick-me-ups more often, and that’s normal in these times. If you feel like you want a treat but you had one yesterday, who cares? Go for it!

9. If you want to dress up and do your make up, do it!

Lounge wear and bare face is the trend of the moment, and understandably, but if you’re still feeling the need to get dressed up and put make up on, then you go for it. No one is going to judge you for getting dressed up to do nothing, and if they do, let them get on with it.

10. Things will get better

They’ve already started looking to the future, and it’s going to be better when we just get through this moment in time. Just look to the future a little, maybe start thinking about the things you’re going to do when we go back to normal life, because it will.
