Dorset Diaries: Part Two

Happy weekend! This time last week I was heading off on my short Dorset holiday, this week I’m sat on my bed with my morning coffee with absolutely no plans. I’m watching Real Housewives – Orange County this time – and they’re on a skiing holiday, so it’s giving me the holiday vibes I need right now.

In my last post I started my Dorset Diaries for my four days in Weymouth. For days 3 and 4 the weather wasn’t so great for all of it, so we didn’t spend so much time sat on the dog beach. We decided rather than driving into Weymouth we would walk along the coastal route.

The route goes all along the coast from our caravan site to Weymouth town centre, and usually takes a couple of hours or so. However – halfway along the first part of the walk there was a diversion sign on the path, and we were meant to walk into the nearby housing neighbourhood. Instead, we decided that we would probably be able to walk along the beach until we got round to where the path would usually meet the cafe that we were planning on stopping at.

We made it about half an hour along the beach, and then realised that we actually couldn’t make it round that way – the tide was in too much for us to keep walking. So, after trying to find a way to climb around, we had to turn around, go back the way we had just come, and go through the diversion route anyway. By the time we got to the cafe we were exhausted – so we caught the bus the rest of the way.

Once we were in Weymouth we took the dogs on the beach again, then headed for lunch in a dog-friendly pub, and caught the bus home when the weather started to turn. We relaxed in the caravan for the rest of the holiday, but to be honest it was even nice to be doing nothing in a different place.

Honestly, it’s done so much for my lock down mood, so if you can get away for a couple of days I really recommend it if you’re feeling the quarantine blues. Stay safe!

xx
