Things I Love, January

It really doesn’t feel like it right now, does it? I feel like it’s been months since we all said Happy New Year. But we just about seemed to struggle through the first month of January – welcome to 2021, February – you’re late!

I used to religiously make a favourites post at the end of every month, but then I sort of dwindled off. Mainly once lockdown hit the first time and it was hard to find enough things to fill a post out. This year, January has felt so long, so I’ve had – what feels like – more time to put a list of things I loved together. Admittedly, I’m a little behind with this – think that’ll be my motto for 2021. I’ve had a few things crop up here and there, and a big week this week outside of the blog, so here we are. What were your favourite things from January?

0.1 Planning Ahead.

This year, part of my Goals for 2021 was that I wanted to up my blogging game. I won’t lie – it hasn’t been a smooth ride so far. It’s all down to motivation, and I’ve found through the first month that planning ahead has really helped me out, big time. I’ve been using a weekly planner to put together my plans for the blog, mainly what I need to do on what day, and then planning about a week in advance.

I’ve been using a planner with bonus sections, that gives you budgets, calendar sections, notes for the end of the month. Plus, it came with cute, bonus stickers to make it look cute! Throw in some highlighters and I’m a changed planner!

0.2 Pinterest

I rediscovered Pinterest this month. I took an online course about using it alongside my blogging, and it dragged me back to it. Now I love it again. I use it mostly for wanderlust inspiration and looking out fashion looks to try, but also never realised how much other bloggers use it. You can check out my Pinterest page here.

0.3 Disenchantment on Netflix

If you follow my Instagram page you might have seen my excitement when the third season of Disenchantment dropped on Netflix. I found it on a Saturday night, had finished it by Sunday evening, I can’t get enough of it. Back when we were allowed out on a Saturday night – ah, the good old days – I first discovered Disenchantment, and got into the habit of watching it after getting home from a night at the pub. Now, whenever I watch it, it makes me feel all cosy, like I’ve just gotten in from a chilly night.

0.4 Getting Fit Again

Again, my Instagram stories have been sharing a little of my most recent fitness journey – another one of my 2021 goals. At the start of the first lockdown I made myself a weekly workout schedule using a mixture of workouts I found online and finding out what worked for me. This week I’ll be sharing my updated workout schedule, as well as my essentials for exercising, so keep an eye out for that!

0.5 Podcasts

I made a big effort to listen to podcasts in January, rather than just listening to music. I don’t know why, but I always just feel like it’s going to be more beneficial for me than just listening to music. Whether that’s true or not. The biggest change I made was listening to podcasts while I’m running, and I found it so much more motivating. Rather than my usual thinking about how many more songs I’d have to listen to until I reach my target distance, I’m listening to a conversation, and it worked so well for me.

0.6 Mail Order Flowers

It was our three month anniversary in January, and – while we don’t plan on celebrating every monthly milestone – I was treated to some letterbox flowers. Up until now I’ve only ever had a bedroom of my own, so any flowers or plants I’d buy would have to go in there somewhere. But now I’m living in a full-house – so to speak – I’m loving having a vase of flowers on the coffee table. My flowers were from Bloom and Wild, and were called The Anna Bouquet.

Great post! I’m not a huge fan of Pinterest, just because it’s not really working for me or my blog at the moment- but I’m glad you’ve loved using it these past few months. Thanks for sharing x

I’ll admit it is a bit of a struggle, but I’m told it pays off after a few months, so here’s hoping, ha!
